Vaccination information

As the coronavirus vaccination is being rolled out across Scotland, we continue to encourage students and other stakeholders to take up the offer to get jabbed. We have collated useful links and information about eligibility for the vaccination as well as where to get yours.

Where can I get vaccinated?

Clinics are available in a range of locations, no appointment necessary, and can deliver both first and second (as long as you received your first injection of the COVID-19 vaccine at least eight weeks before) vaccine doses.

You do not need to be registered with a GP to come to a drop-in clinic. People will be seen on a first come first served basis. More clinics are being added all the time so be sure to check out the dates and times from the list.

Who can get vaccinated?

Everyone aged 16 and over can attend the clinics for either their first dose, or for their second if it is 8 weeks or more since the first. See this page for the latest vaccination information from NHS Lothian.

 

I haven't received an appointment for my second dose

If it has been 8 weeks since your first dose you can now attend any drop-in clinic to receive your second. You should get a second dose of the same vaccine, so make sure to check the drop-in location has the one you need. For example, if your first dose was Pfizer/BioNTech you should make sure to go to a drop in clinic that have those. This list is regularly updated and shows available vaccination sites for Lothian and the vaccines they provide.

 

Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?

NHS inform has published advice and information for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The JCVI recommends that everyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should be offered the vaccination. More information is available here

 

Information for during and after your vaccination

  • Make sure to eat well and have plenty of fluids
  • If you have a sore arm or fever you can take paracetamol 
  • Wear practical clothing to get your injection
