Hope you're settling into semester two!

Hello from your student officers!

Now we're into semester two, we're getting into the swing of things and have launched two big bits of work this week - our Student Life Survey where you can win £££s in vouchers, and our 2025 elections!

We're looking for enthusiastic students to take over running your Students' Association. It's a full-time paid job that you can do as a break in your studies, or if you're finishing up after your course.

We've also been running our latest round of Class Rep meetings this week, so we'll report back soon on what feedback and actions have came from those.

Student Life Survey 2025 - Big Prizes available!

To find out what's impacting you as a student right now, we're running our annual Student Life survey which looks at housing, finance, belonging, travel and access to digital resources.

This survey only happens once a year, so now is the time to make your voice heard! It takes between 5-10 minutes to fill out and if you complete it, you'll be entered into our prize draw, with a chance to win up to £100 worth of Amazon vouchers!

We want to hear from as many students as possible, so we can know what issues are most important for you in your life beyond college. So please spread the word and take the chance to have your say today.

Take the survey now!

Are you our next President or Vice President?

EC Students’ Association is run by a team of elected students, also known as Full-Time Officers. Every year we run elections where students vote for a new team, and that’s why we need you! If you are passionate about improving things for students at Edinburgh College, we would love you to put yourself forward to be our new President, Vice President Welfare and Vice President Activities.

This is a full time role which is paid £25,472 for 35-hours a week. If you get elected, you'll be working a small and supportive team of staff who run events, activities, advocate for change and enrich the lives of Edinburgh College students.

We'll be hosting two drop-in online info events that you can join if you'd like to chat to us and find out more about how you can get involved:

  • Wednesday 19th February, 3.30-4.30pm and
  • Friday 21st February, 12-1pm

Robert Burns through the eyes of Ukrainians

RESCHEDULED DUE TO STORM ÉOWYN

On Friday 7th February from 6 to 7.30pm, a number of our students are holding a Ukrainian take on Burns' night at the Sighthill Campus' Music Box.

We named this concert experimental, as we aim to present an unusual combination: the poetry of Robert Burns accompanied by beautiful Ukrainian melodies. We are certain that this creative experiment will deliver all our audience members remarkable experiences and genuine delight.

Thank you to Class Reps

A huge thank you to all of the Class Reps who attended this week's series of meetings. We had some great discussions and received really useful feedback about some of the changes students want to see around the college. We're now going to write our report with the key findings and follow up with individual cases separately.

Our next round of meetings will be in May. Use the Teams channel to keep in the loop with news and updates.

Your Trust , Your Voice

The National Trust for Scotland cares for natural, cultural and historic places, and shares them with everyone. But what does that look like for the future? They are seeking insights from young adults about their connection to Scotland's iconic locations. Please take 5 minutes to complete this very short survey.
