We've been Buzzin!

Here at the Students’ Association we've had a lot on, very much keeping us busy. To start with our Strategic Plan 2025-28 'Buzzin for the Future' was launched on Friday with a launch party in the Sighthill Atrium. It was attended by the college's Principal Audrey Cumberford, as well as other senior figures. Needless to say this was a major success for us and we can’t wait for students to reap the rewards of the future.

We would also appreciate if you could take the time to give us your thoughts and feedback on the college cutting the free counselling service that has previously been available to students. As of next term the service will no longer be running so it is important to us to hear what the student voice has to say, regardless of whether you have personally used the service or not.

And finally, coming up next month we have a final Paint & Sip event of the year run at Granton by our VP Welfare Sukinder. So come along and get your craft on!

Counselling Service Survey

Due to a withdrawal of funding from the Scottish Government, Edinburgh College will no longer provide free in-person counselling to students from next term.

We know this is deeply concerning. Mental health support is essential, and the removal of this service may leave many students without the help they need—potentially increasing drop-out rates and worsening wellbeing.

While it’s unlikely the decision will be reversed in the short term—as budgets for next year are largely set—we believe it’s still vital that student voices are heard. We want to gather your views on this change, and understand what you expect from your college in terms of mental health support.
