We’re delighted to announce the candidates for this year’s Students’ Association Elections! Firstly, a huge well done to all the candidates that have put themselves forward to represent the students of Edinburgh College for the next academic year. Each of the elected officers helps to build the student voice, create communities, advise and advocate for students.
The Full-Time Officers begin their roles on 1st July and will remain in post for the full year. Click on the links below to meet the candidates and find out what their priorities for Edinburgh College students are.
Candidates for President
The President’s remit is to represent students on learning and teaching at College. This includes:
- Proactively engaging with students to get their feedback on college life, e.g. at Class Rep meetings and events
- Attending College Board of Management meetings and representing student views
- Attending sector events, conferences and networking sessions
Candidates for Vice-President Activities
The Vice-President Activities’ remit is to enrich student life at College. This includes:
- Planning events and activities for students across all four campuses
- Assisting students with the running of clubs and societies
- Leading on sustainability initiatives at College and the Students’ Association
Candidates for Vice-President Welfare
The Vice-President Welfare’s remit is to ensure good student wellbeing at College. This includes:
- Organising activities and events that promote wellbeing
- Advocating for student welfare (e.g. physical, sexual and mental health)
- Supporting our equalities groups and working with the College’s Wellbeing Team and EDI Lead
The Students’ Association team will be running polling stations on all four campuses across Elections Week, from 16th-19th March, so keep an eye out and chat to the candidates to find out more about what they stand for. Best of luck to everyone involved!
