Hello again from your Students' Association!

It's a been a busy couple of weeks, we've met with our Lead Reps, held our candle painting event at Granton campus, supported individual students, and Adam and Mary have attended the National Union of Students event at Fife College, Dunfermline.

We gave away 390 items of clothing as part of our Winter Coat Drive, keeping students warm as the temperature plummets!

Now, we're looking forward to our 16 Days of Activism programme and preparing for our festive events.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence
Respect is working together to prevent gender-based violence

At Edinburgh College, we are working to tackle gender-based violence on a local level during this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.

From the 25th November to 10th December, we're running a series of events and activities to engage students in taking action against gender based violence. Click the button to find out more, and here's a snapshot of what's going on below.

Estranged Student Solidarity Week

Next week is Estranged Student Solidarity Week, and we want to raise awareness of the support that Edinburgh College can provide to anyone who is studying without the support or approval of their family.

Care Experienced Student Story

For Care Experienced Week in October, we asked our student community to share their stories. Here's one of the submissions we received which has been inspiring our team:

“I was in and out of care homes since I was 9 months old till 8 years old, My life in care was pretty horrific since I was in care since 1970s and there was no regulations set on how punishment was set and resulted in very harsh and strict punishment, often resulting in different types and severe abuse. I thought I would share as I am in my 50s now and doing now what I would have loved to do many years ago and struggled with sometimes quite severe anxiety and depression which stopped me from doing what I love.

I have worked and still working with future pathways and counselling sessions, to help me feel this is now with the right support is very helpful in bringing out my confidence to bring out my passions in life instead of hiding away. I am loving being back in Edinburgh College and looking forward to a brighter future. Edinburgh College is full of wonder people of all ages and there is always help and support where needed.”
