Join Space and be a friend to a young person

Space for Youth Befriending provides children and young people aged 5 to 16 years with a volunteer befriender once a week for 2 to 3 hours who will support and encourage them to explore new activities and find new interests and hobbies.

Befriending matches are based on shared interests, and the volunteer helps their young befriendee to build confidence and self-esteem, improve their social skills, and make friends outwith their peer group.

Befriending can make a real difference to a young person’s life and help them to access opportunities in Edinburgh that they may not otherwise have had access to.

Space provide full training for the befriending role as well as information on child protection and other information relative to working with young people.
