Happy New Year and welcome back! Whether you’re diving into your studies or just thawing out from the chilly Edinburgh weather, we’re so excited to have you back on campus.

This semester, the Students’ Association has loads planned to keep you motivated and connected—think socials, wellbeing initiatives, and campaigns that matter to YOU. And don’t forget, our door is always open if you have ideas or just fancy a chat.

So, what’s your 2025 vibe? Whether you’re here to level up academically, take on a leadership role, or simply enjoy being part of a vibrant and supportive community, we can’t wait to see what you’ll achieve this year. Robert Burns through the eyes of Ukrainians

Next Friday, 24th January from 6 to 7:30pm , A number of our students are holding a Ukrainian take on Burns night at the Sighthill Campus' Music Box: 

We named this concert experimental, as we aim to present an unusual combination: the poetry of Robert Burns accompanied by beautiful Ukrainian melodies. We are certain that this creative experiment will deliver all our audience members remarkable experiences and genuine delight.

Come see us at the Sighthill Wellbeing Fair

We’re keen to make 2025 a great year for our students' wellbeing! To kick things off, we’re hosting a Wellbeing Fair on Tuesday 4th February at our Sighthill Campus from 10am to 2pm. 

As we step into the new year, Edinburgh College Students' Association is committed to supporting students in achieving their best mental health and wellbeing. We also want to introduce you to the many wonderful organizations in and around Edinburgh that are here to help.

Following student feedback we are creating a new Disabled Students' Forum. This is a safe space for students who identify as disabled (including hidden disabilities) where you can meet one another, and discuss any issues you're facing in a friendly environment. Click below if you want to join us!

Developing a Universal Definition of ‘Care Experience’

The Scottish Government launched a public consultation on Developing a Universal Definition of ‘Care Experience’. The purpose of the consultation is to seek views on the need for a universal definition of the term ‘care experience’ and what the potential impacts of a universal definition could be.

As series of online workshops is being held in January and February to encourage Care Experienced people to have their say.

Our President Adam on the United Us podcast

Students' Association President Adam Lowe appeared on the new United Us podcast produced by Creative Industries and ESOL students - 'created by students for students'.

The first episode, "Gardening," highlights how this simple yet enriching activity fosters creativity, supports mental well-being, and reflects the growth of talent across Edinburgh College. Students and lecturers share personal stories that celebrate how gardening connects people in meaningful ways. Some see gardening as a creative outlet, while others draw parallels between nurturing plants and nurturing talent in the academic environment.

What? Cervical Cancer Awareness Health Stall

When? Thursday 30th January between 11:00am - 1:30pm

Where? Sighthill Campus, main corridor

Why?
Cervical Cancer Prevention Week is a crucial time to raise awareness about Cervical Cancer and the importance of early detection, vaccination, and screening in saving lives. This week aims to educate individuals about Cervical Health, debunk myths, and encourage proactive steps to prevent Cervical Cancer, which remains one of the most preventable forms of cancer.

Fandom Club - Weds 22nd Jan

Fandom Club is back for the new year! 

In this meeting we will be discussing what fandoms we are individually interested in. Before Christmas, we tasked our members with creating a short power-point about their favourite fandom and these will be getting shared at the next meeting. Don't forget to being your presentation along to get involved.

Volunteer at Lasswade High School PHAB Club

The Midlothian voluntary group are working in the community to provide social and educational opportunities for people with additional support needs. The Club was formed in 1978 and is based in Lasswade High School.

Meetings are every Wednesday evening during school term from 6:30pm till 8:30pm.
