Hi everyone!

It’s now been 3 months since I started my role as VP Activities! I think it's time I gave you a summary of the things I’ve been doing since starting in July...

  • Arranging a Dr Bike session for Sustainability Week
  • Set up a range of clubs and societies with the help of students
  • Representing marginalised students in meetings
  • Awareness-raising about LGBTQ+ rights and taking steps for the community to feel safer on campus

Sustainability: Putting environmentalism at the core of college life.

  • Joined the EC Sustainable Education Forum
  • Working with the media department to interview students about their feelings on sustainability
  • Sourcing products ethically where possible over Welcome Season

  • Promoting external campaigns and events relevant to students
  • Initiated partnerships with local activity providers for a self-defence workshop and exercise classes

General ECSA: There are some tasks that are connected to my objectives but also just part of being in the ECSA Team.

  • Welcome Week 1: Campus Tours
  • Welcome Week 2: Stallholders
  • Welcome Week 3: Activities
  • Assisting with digital content development
  • Introductory talks with students/departments
  • Lots of planning for the year ahead!
  • Attending board and committee meetings
  • Developing processes for tracking targets and workloads

The thing I want to most encourage you all to do is sign up to societies! Once you're signed up you will be added to the Teams page and that is where you can organise meet ups and find out about what that society has planned!

You can get more updates about what I'm doing regularly by following me on Instagram. You can also contact me about any activities you want to organise or be involved with via mary.odriscoll@edinburghcollege.ac.uk, on Teams, or in one of our offices!

Hope to see you sometime very soon!
