Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance (SHAG) Week is coming to Edinburgh College this February!
Here at ECSA, we are proud to host Edinburgh College's first ever Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance (SHAG) Week—a week dedicated to open conversations around sexual health and wellness.
SHAG Week is all about empowering students with knowledge, breaking stigma, and creating safe spaces to talk about sexual health, bodies, relationships, and the way external factors can influence our relationships with all these aspects of ourselves. SHAG Week is here to help you learn more about yourself and the people around you, ask questions in a comfortable environment, and have some fun!
SHAG Fair: 9–13th February | All Four Campuses
From 9th–13th February, our SHAG Fair will be running across all four campuses, bringing together a wide range of stallholders and organisations focused on sexual and reproductive health.
Students will have the opportunity to:
Learn more about menstruation and menstrual health
Access information on sexual health and wellbeing
Find out about screenings for cervical, prostate, and breast cancer
Speak with charities offering STI education, testing information, and destigmatisation support
Ask questions in a relaxed, non-judgemental environment
Whether you’re just browsing or looking for specific guidance, the fair is a great chance to connect with trusted organisations and take control of your health.
Sex, Media, and Real Talk in LDT Classes
As part of SHAG Week, two external organisations will be visiting some LDT classes to deliver sessions exploring sex and the media. These workshops will encourage students to think critically about how sex, bodies, and relationships are portrayed online, on screen, and in popular culture—and how this can shape expectations and self-image.
Get Creative and Active!
SHAG Week isn’t just about talks and stalls—we’re also hosting activities that support wellbeing through movement and creativity:
Boogie Boost – a high-energy, stress-busting session that’s all about fun movement and feeling great in your body.
Zine-Making Workshop – a creative space to express thoughts, ideas, and experiences around identity, bodies, and self-expression.
Yoga for menstrual health – join our Wellbeing Team as we do a Yoga with Kassandra session together.
Why SHAG Week Matters
Sexual health is part of overall health. SHAG Week aims to normalise conversations, provide accurate information, and remind students that support is available—and that asking questions is always okay.
We encourage all students to get involved, attend events, and take advantage of what’s on offer. Bring a friend, have a conversation, and learn more about yourself in the process.
We can't wait to see you this February for SHAG Week at Edinburgh College! 💜
