We were delighted to run the Big Student Thank You again this year, an initiative which gives students the chance to say 'thank you' to those college lecturers and staff who have gone the extra mile to help them over the course of this academic year.
Overall, we received a huge 364 nominations and were touched by the appreciative messages that students shared. Here’s an example of one of our favourites, nominating Anna Stride who works in Art & Design.
"I’m currently in my final year at Edinburgh College, and I wanted to put forward my lecturer for an award. She’s the first lecturer who has genuinely pushed me beyond my comfort zone — but in a really positive and encouraging way. Thanks to her, I’ve not only developed new skills but also learned how to push myself further than I ever thought I could. She’s made a real impact on my growth, both creatively and personally, and I finally feel like I’m reaching my full potential because of her guidance and support."

"I want to say thank you to Adelle because, I’ve moved here all alone, I knew nobody on my course and there’s not been one time where I’ve felt unwelcome or out of place because she’s been there, she constantly supports me every day, pushing me to the best of my ability. She notices if I’m having a bad day and always makes sure I am ok. She’s more than just a lecturer to me, she’s absolutely amazing and I can’t thank her enough for everything she’s done for me this year and can’t wait to continue college life with her as my lecturer.
