Write to your MSPs and ask them to stand up for students ahead of the vote on the Scottish Housing bill on the 23rd September.
The Housing Bill is due to be voted on in the Scottish Parliament, and as it stands, it falls short of helping all students and apprentices.
Students across Scotland are being priced out of education. Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) rents have risen by 34% since 2018, while one in five students now relies on food banks to get by. Housing costs and poor conditions are forcing students into poverty, damaging mental and physical health, and undermining our ability to focus on our studies.
What you can do - Take action today!
It’s more important than ever for you to make your voices heard! There are 2 ways to get invovled:
- Write to your MSP - your national representatives, the National Union of Students Scoltand have developed a template letter that you can edit and send to your MSPs to urge them to stand up for students' right. Their campaign tool will even help you identify your MSPs and send the letter directly to them
- Join us at a rally at the Scottish Parliament - make sure MSPs know they can't ignore us. The Living Rent Campaign has organised the rally of Parliament on the 22nd of September. If you are interested in joining us at the Rally, contact Student President, Adam Lowe on adam@ecsa.scot
