Help the Planet

Travel

EC Students' Association wants to help you travel to college in a way that is cheap, healthy, and good for the environment!

We provide students with advice and support to help you save money and improve your wellbeing through your travel.

The college has lots of information on transport and travel to each of the campuses.

Swapshops

There are two full-time Swapshops at Edinburgh College, at Milton Road campus, directly outside the Gather & Gather Cafe, and at Granton campus, outside the Students' Association at R101. We also run pop-up Swapshops and clothing drives throughout the year.

Student Fridges

Since 2021, the Students' Association has run Student Fridges across all four of our campuses. We work with local partners Fareshare and Cyrenians to stop food from supermarkets from going to waste.

Local businesses donate food that is close to its 'use by' or 'best before' dates that they know they won't sell or will otherwise be wasted. In some circumstances, the food still has a long 'use by' date but due to mislabelling or stock preferences, the supermarkets are unable to sell them.

Sustainability Week 2024 - Survey Results

In October, we asked students their thoughts on sustainability.

We looked at what sort of things people knew about that the College already does, how well they would rate the College on sustainability, and what they wanted the College the focus on in the future. Over the course of Sustainable Education Week 2024, we spoke to 219 students, and, below, is a slideshow explaining what they told us.
