This week marked the end of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. Starting on the 25th November, Edinburgh College's newly formed Feminist Society have been busy spreading the word every day for 16 days.

You might have seen their takeover of ECSA's social media, had a chat with them over a cup of tea and a mice pie at Granton, or heard from them at a Class Rep Conference. Topics covered have included issues like gender-based violence, obstetric violence and AIDS discrimination. These are big issues where serious change can be made through small gestures and conversations.

Speaking about the campaign, members of the society have said:

"It has been a formative little journey for us and we hope we've helped get across some clearer ideas around all different relevant topics. We've been happy to share information about local charities and centres, to recommend podcasts and exhibitions and to call attention to more serious issues."

"I decided to get invloved in this project because I realised there wasn't an active feminist group on campus and I believe we can (and we should!) seek for equality in every area of our lives. Every action we make will get to at least one person and that is a great start to change things. We need to raise awareness of the problematics of sexism and design ways to fight it!"

Stay tuned for more exciting projects in the New Year!

If you would like to get invlolved in the future, join the Facebook Group, 'Edinburgh College Women's Society,' drop ECSA an email or visit the office in person.
