The Students' Association is run by a team of elected students also known as full time officers. Each year they are up for election, and that's where you come in!

ECSA is here to represent all students at Edinburgh College, which means what we do changes to suit the needs of students.

Each year we host an Edinburgh College wide vote to elect 3 Full-Time Officers. These 3 Officers become the leaders of the Students' Association and will spend a year working full-time to represent Edinburgh College students and improve the student experience.

This is a great opportunity to take a stand and make a change for students, but also a chance for a rewarding and flexible job where you can develop transferable skills.

But don't just take our word for it, here's what the current officers have to say to convince you:

2021-22 President Rose said:

It has been such a privilege to represent Edinburgh College students to bring about positive change at the College and for students across the country. 2 years ago I did not expect to be where I am but I highly recommend running in the ECSA elections as it is an incredible and unique experience.

2021-22 VP Welfare Jordan said:

If coming to college prepares you for the job you want, then becoming a student officer prepares you to become a leader in any aspect of your future life. Being a student officer has taught me skills quickly in a way I could not expect to get from elsewhere.

Being an officer has been a real life-changing experience, I know that sounds so cliché but it really has been life-changing for me.

Each of the 3 Full-Time Officers have a remit they work on, but they also have the freedom to come up with projects that they believe would change the student experience. The President focuses on Education, our VP Activities works toward setting up societies and activities for students and VP Welfare works with the college to ensure good student mental health and supports our equalities groups.

The elected officers take office on the 1st of July and will remain in post for the full year, working 35 hours a week at £18,500 per year.

There are two main phases to the election process:
