Reflecting on your goals- This can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Reflecting on your goal can be as simple as making a list of things you want to do today. Take some time to think about yourself, and what you want to be doing/achieving long or short term. It could be making a list or looking at your deadlines for projects.
Self-care- Self-care is a subject that we hear a lot about but we don't always know what our own self-care is, its as simple as taking some time for you to do something you enjoy/know destresses you (get to know student/what will help them) but in moderations so for instance if you enjoy playing a game set aside an hour but not all night as that starts to become debilitating.
Take a breath- Taking time out for a minute to breathe, Breathing technics are always helpful but even just taking a pause on your day to listen to some music and focusing on breathing can be really helpful.
Go for a walk- Going for a walk in nature has been known to help relieve stress and even as small as a 10-minute walk can increase mental wellbeing. Plus there are so many beautiful places to see around Edinburgh here is a walking guide from our go-green team.
Reach out for help- Reaching out for help can be one of the most basic ways to help our own mental well-being and with so many places to reach out to it can be daunting to know where to turn to especially around assessments so here is our very own help zone where you can find the who and where to look for support.
Notice the everyday- This sounds so vague yet so obvious, taking a few moments to just notices the funny or strange things going on around us can be a form of mindfulness. In the long run, noticing the everyday things happening around us can lead to a long term habit of being mindful which has long term benefits.
Listen to your favourite song- this is a simple form of self-care that we all enjoy, if you don't have one specific song you will probably be in the mood for or one that's stuck in your head if all else fails here is a universal anthem.
Try something new-
This is always a good strategy when you are feeling down, it can be as simple as trying a new coffee or dessert or maybe a new activity, whatever you chose it can be something big or small, but as long as you remember trying something new is an experience in of itself.
Talk to a new person- Chances are you have already tried this today by talking to one of the officers at the stall but talking to a new person who looks friendly and open to communicating with you can be an amazing way to make new friends or even just get to know the people who are around you. We live in such a rich society with so many individuals with different perspectives likes and dislikes, were bound to have friends out there we just haven't met yet.

Watch your favourite show or movie- such a simple form of self-care yet one of the best and tried and true methods, but if you want to take it a step further maybe talk to your friends or loved ones and ask what they would recomend, you can find out something new about someone you thought you knew everything about based on their tastes.
