What are EC Students' Association's Go Green Hubs?

Our Go Green Hubs consist of our Swap Shops and Community Fridges. These aim to tackle waste and help students through the cost of living crisis at the same time! Last academic year we saved 7.5 meteric tonnes of food from going to waste and 3.5 meteric tonnes of clothes, books, accessories from going to waste. We aim to make this number even higher this year!

Community Fridge

The Community Fridge is a public fridge at each campus that we stock up once per week with different foods, drinks and snacks. This is here for students to take what they need, no questions asked, although we ask students to be mindful of others when selecting what they need. We try and cater to all students, including vegan, vetegarian and gluten free choices in our deliveries. Our Community Fridge food deliveries take place once a week per campus. The days and times are as follows:

  • Sighthill - Monday @ 11am
  • Granton - Wednesday @ 10am
  • Milton Road - Wednesday @ 10am
  • Midlothian - Thursday @ 1pm

These times are estimates and we do not control when they are delivered, so sometimes these might vary.

Swap Shops

Our Swap Shops are areas in the Go Green Hubs that have second hand clothing donated by other students or members of the public which students can help themselves to. There are donation points here too, if you wanted to donate some of your own items that you don't use. Here is a rough guide of where you can find our Go Green Hubs at each campus:

  • Sighthill - 1st floor up the stairs in the Atrium.
  • Granton - Outside the EC Students' Association office on 1st floor, red corridor. (The Community Fridge is located on the ground floor next to Gather & Gather).
  • Milton Road - On the ground floor next to Gather & Gather.
  • Midlothian -  At the entrance to the College, outside the EC Students' Association office.

The items we accept for our Swap Shop donations are:

  • Adults' clothing
  • Childrens' clothing
  • Toys
  • Books
  • Shoes
  • Accessories

We ask that you do not donate anything which is not listed above, and also which isn't in great condition. We specifically do not accept underwear of any kind, or pyjamas.
