EC Students' Association is looking for two engaged and dedicated students, who support the vision and direction of their Students' Association, to join the Board of Trustees. Could this be you?

The EC Students' Association Board of Trustees consists of the three Full-Time Officers (President, Vice President Welfare and Vice President Activities); two Student Trustees and three External Trustees. A Board of Trustees is a key part of compliance for an independent charity, registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility to OSCR for the running of EC Students' Association.

Job Description 

Title: Student Trustee

Overview: The Trustees have the overall responsibility for the affairs of the Students' Association. Student Trustees bring their insight and experience as current students.  

Time Commitment: It is expected that Student Trustees attend four quarterly Board meetings plus any sub-committee meetings as agreed.

Duration: As a Student Trustee you will serve until the end of next academic term (June 2024).

Responsibilities: 

All Trustees have a responsibility to:

  • Participate fully in Board meetings

  • Read Board papers in advance and be prepared to contribute and discuss

  • Ensure the Students' Association is not in breach of any requirements made by Charity Law or internal governing documents

  • Use their particular knowledge, skills and experience to improve the decision making of the Board

  • Take an active part in setting overall targets and strategy for the Students' Association, as well as adhering to those targets

  • Be an ambassador for EC Students' Association, speaking well of the Students' Association and promoting our activities and values

Skills and Experience: 
EC Students' Association is looking for Student Trustees with an interest in seeing the Association thrive. No previous Trustee experience is necessary and the Student Trustees we appoint will be fully trained. 
As a Student Trustee you should be able to: 

  • Communicate effectively and appropriately

  • Fully participate in all Board discussions

  • Work with other Trustees
