Students' Association President Adam Lowe appeared on the new United Us podcast produced by Creative Industries and ESOL students - 'created by students for students'.

The first episode, "Gardening," highlights how this simple yet enriching activity fosters creativity, supports mental well-being, and reflects the growth of talent across Edinburgh College. Students and lecturers share personal stories that celebrate how gardening connects people in meaningful ways. Some see gardening as a creative outlet, while others draw parallels between nurturing plants and nurturing talent in the academic environment.

Here's what the creators of the show had to say:

We are thrilled to announce the launch of United Us, a brand-new podcast created by students, for students. This engaging series offers a fresh perspective on student life, showcasing the vibrant culture and diverse voices within the college community. By bringing together unique experiences and insights, United Us aims to inspire and unite the Edinburgh College community through thoughtful dialogue and creative storytelling.

Hosted by Creative Industries and ESOL students Oleksandr Shtepan and Volodymyr Iushchenko, United Us features in-depth conversations on topics that matter to students. From sustainability and volunteering to sports, global cuisine, and cultural diversity, each episode explores how shared interests and passions bring the campus together. This initiative is more than just a podcast—it is a platform where stories are shared, voices are amplified, and connections are built.

"United Us is all about celebrating people and their unique talents," says co-creator Oleksandr Shtepan. "Our goal is to create a platform that encourages creativity, fosters inclusivity, and helps students discover what unites us. We believe that by recognizing and appreciating each other's differences, we can build a stronger, more connected college community."

In addition to its compelling content, the podcast also serves as an opportunity for students to develop practical skills in media production, communication, and project management. By collaborating with staff and other students, the creators are fostering a hands-on learning environment that extends beyond the classroom.

New episodes will be released monthly, covering exciting topics such as National Diversity, Food That Unites Us, Sports, Gender Diversity, and Cultural Exchange. These topics are carefully selected to align with the college's events calendar and the EC Students' Association initiatives, ensuring that the podcast remains relevant and engaging. The EC Students' Association will also engage students through surveys to gather ideas for future episodes, giving everyone a chance to contribute to this evolving project.

The creators of United Us are eager to collaborate with more students, faculty, and staff to explore the wide range of stories that make Edinburgh College a dynamic and inclusive community. This collaborative spirit reflects the podcast's mission to amplify voices and foster meaningful connections across campus.
