Red weather warning in place 10am to 5pm, Friday 24/01/25
Due to the Red Weather Warning in place on Friday the 24th of January, EC Students' Associaion offices will be closed. You can still contact the Students' Associaiton via email, phone, or Live Chat if you need to speak to us - head to our contact page for further details.
The College has made the decision to close all campuses and cancel in-person classes - plase see email copied below for information.
The UK Met Office defines a Red Weather Warning (the most severe level) as:
Dangerous weather is expected and, if you haven’t already done so, you should take action now to keep yourself and others safe from the impact of the severe weather. It is very likely that there will be a risk to life, with substantial disruption to travel, energy supplies and possibly widespread damage to property and infrastructure. You should avoid travelling, where possible, and follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.

Subject: Campuses closed on Friday 24 January due to red weather warning
Dear students,
All Edinburgh College campuses will be closed tomorrow (Friday 24 January), due to the Met Office-issued Red weather warning for damaging winds across Edinburgh and the Lothians from 10am until 5pm.
All on-campus classes will be cancelled and students are encouraged to undertake self-directed study at home during the campus closure. Please check with your lecturer if you are due to attend an online class.
Campuses will re-open and classes will resume as normal on Monday 27 January 2025.
The Met Office has issued a Red warning for wind across Edinburgh and the Lothians from 10am until 5pm tomorrow (Friday 24 January). An Amber warning for wind is also in place until 9pm tomorrow (Friday 24 January). Very strong winds are expected with a further yellow warning for wind issued for Saturday 25 January.
