Scottish Student Sport College Cup Finals 2017

Edinburgh College students arrived at Heriot-Watt’s brand new sports facility, Oriam, on Wednesday 3rd of May, looking to build on previous success in the annual event. We entered six of the eight events open, it could have been seven, but unfortunately it was not to be for our Men’s Football team this year. The reigning champions were knocked-out of the competition the week previously by the eventual runners-up Dundee and Angus College.
The outcome of the finals day was much more fruitful though, an outstanding display from Edinburgh College students throughout the day resulted in first place for 5 of the 6 events:

Men' Rugby 7's
Men's Basketball
Men's Volleyball
Women's Basketball
Mixed Badminton

Women's Volleyball had to settle for second place after an enthralling encounter against Ayrshire College.
Edinburgh College students had some individual success as well, collecting most valuable player in Mixed Badminton, Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Basketball and Volleyball.
These results meant Edinburgh College took home the Overall trophy for the 4th consecutive year, Oriam being the fitting venue for this achievement (meaning “I am gold” in Gaelic).

A fantastic achievement for the College and exciting times moving into the next academic year of student sport.
