I want to help boost student's experience here at Edinburgh College by hosting clubs and events that will help them with their mental and physical well-being by adding a more diverse range of clubs that focus on this. I recognise the importance of having an outlet from the stress of academic life and I am dedicated towards creating a positive and supportive environment for students.I want to create more opportunities for students, so they can get help when making decisions about what they want to do after leaving college as well as opportunities while at college such as getting work experience or part-time work. We could even organise events catered around these subjects to give students opportunities for example having an event where local business hiring comes in to offer students work opportunities.A commitment to unwavering and vocal support for minority groups. This includes bolstering support groups, hosting events that foster open discussions, and promoting education on pertinent issues. Establishing safe spaces, such as dedicated societies, will allow these students to connect and find support on our campus.
Increasing the transparency between the students and the college staff having understanding and more support towards students with caring responsibilities. Increasing the accessibility for information to make sure that students are informed correctly about the support that is available on campus aka learning support, funding, and counselling etc. As many students are unaware of some of the support the college offers and I feel staff need to do a better job at communicating this. I feel communication overall could be better.
