What are your top three priorities?: 

I am Sukinder Landa, a proud mother and a dedicated member of the Sikh community in Edinburgh. I am writing to express my sincere intention to run for election in our community.As a mother, I understand the importance of building a safe, prosperous, and inclusive environment for our children to thrive through education I believe that by actively engaging in local politics, I can contribute to creating a better future for all members of our college community, regardless of their background or beliefs.My Sikh faith has instilled in me values of equality, compassion, and service to others. If elected, I will strive to represent these values in all aspects of my work, advocating for policies that promote social justice, diversity, and the well-being of every individual.

Furthermore, as a resident of Edinburgh and student for years, I am deeply invested in the prosperity and development of our city. I am committed to working tirelessly to address the issues that matter most to our community, whether it be improving access to quality education, ensuring benefits everyone.I firmly believe that by coming together as a community and embracing our shared values, we can overcome any challenge and build a brighter future for Edinburgh Students. With your support, I am confident that we can make positive change happen.

  1. Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion: One of my top priorities is to foster a more diverse and inclusive environment within our community. I believe that every student should feel valued and respected, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or beliefs. I will work to create initiatives that promote diversity, celebrate multiculturalism, and ensure that every voice is heard. Working with disabled people and the LGBTQIA community to get the best they can from Edinburgh College and also so they can get the best from me to represent them.
  2. Improving Mental Health Support: Mental health is a crucial issue facing students today, and I am committed to improving access to mental health resources and support services on campus. I will advocate for increased funding for counselling services, raise awareness about mental health issues, and work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. Every student deserves to have access to the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
  3. Enhancing Student Representation and Engagement: As a student officer, I will prioritize increasing student representation and engagement in decision-making processes. I believe that students should have a strong voice in shaping the policies and initiatives that affect their lives. I will work to strengthen communication channels between students and the administration, encourage student involvement in student government, and ensure that student concerns are heard and addressed.

By focusing on these priorities, I am confident that we can create a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging campus community where every student has the opportunity to succeed. What do you want to change that would improve the student experience?: 

I want to make it easy for students to come together and pursue common interests to enhance their extra curricular experiences at Edinburgh College.  I believe in removing barriers and empowering individuals to collaborate with each other across campuses, this includes an aim to improve links between campuses for a more unified experience. I want to improve information outlets about college activities, so that all students have clear, easy to access and up to date information about what’s on across the college campuses. I want to ensure that social spaces across the campuses give students a place to relax on campus, study together and socialise between and after classes.

Please describe in 50 words or less why students should vote for you: 

Students should vote for Sukinder Landa because I will committed to enhancing support services, promoting student engagement, advocating for affordability and inclusivity, and improving communication. With her dedication and vision, she will work tirelessly to represent and uplift every student in the community.
