As VP Welfare at Edinburgh College, my top three priorities will focus on student well-being, support services, and inclusivity. Here are three key areas I will prioritise:
1. Mental Health & Well-being Support 🧠💙Improve access to mental health resources, such as counselling and peer support groups.Organise well-being campaigns to reduce stigma around mental health.Ensure students know where to find support through clear communication (e.g., social media, posters, student portals).
2. Financial & Housing Support 💰🏡Champion more financial assistance, including hardship funds and affordable food options on campus.Provide guidance on student budgeting and access to grants or benefits.Support students facing housing issues by working with local organisations and landlords.
3. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) 🌍🏳️🌈Ensure all students feel represented and safe, regardless of background, disability, gender, or sexuality.Promote an inclusive campus by supporting cultural, LGBTQ+, and accessibility initiatives.Work with student groups to address discrimination and improve college policies.
