1. Putting environmentalism at the core of college life
I will transform our campus through hands-on community repair workshops, innovative upcycling initiatives, and dynamic sustainability programs. Together, we'll make Edinburgh College a model institution that takes meaningful and tangible action to tackle the climate emergency—not just talk about it.
2. Make holistic wellbeing activities available for every student
Your mental and physical health matters. I'm committed to listening to your concerns and creating:- Mental health support that's fully accessible when you need it.- Comprehensive sexual health resources without stigma!- Inclusive active travel opportunities for all abilities.- Platforms that amplify marginalised voices in our community.
3. Tackling today's unique challenges
Many of us struggle with social media addiction, body image issues, cost of living stress, and feeling out of place. I'll create targeted solutions based on your input to address these modern challenges while building a stronger community where everyone feels like they belong.
A bit about me:
My work over the last 4+ years has been dedicated to sustainability, lqbtq+ rights, community-building, and access to the arts in Edinburgh. Within this time I have managed teams of 80+ volunteers, contributed to securing £200K+ funding for zero waste projects in the city, co-founded a consistently sold-out women and non-binary open mic night, led marketing strategies that have contributed to the saving of over 700 tonnes of CO2, and organised a range of community skillshare events as well as health and wellbeing activities for vulnerable groups around the city.
1. Putting environmentalism at the core of college lifeThis will give you access to workshops that upskill you in ways to combat the climate emergency (skills and knowledge that will be increasingly necessary in all workplaces, regarless of sector). This will also give you the opportunity to build community and engage in democracy by taking part in activities like 'craftivism'. There are so many opportunities for Edinburgh College to be to creating a circular economy that we are not currently taking advantage of; I believe EC can set an example for other institutions to follow which will make a huge difference to the role Edinburgh plays in tackling the climate emergency and will consequently benefit people and the planet.
2. Make holistic wellbeing activities available for every studentEvery student at Edinburgh College needs their mind and body nourished. I will provide events and activities that offer mental and physical health support, sexual health education and destigmatisation, improve access to active travel, and amplify marginalised voices within our community, creating a better understanding of ourselves and each other.
3. Tackling today's unique challengesThere are unique challenges our society faces nowadays that students cannot be expected to deal with alone! I will organise events tackling the issues that feel most pressing to our student population, involving topics such as social media addiction, AI safety and responsibility, body image difficulties, the cost of living crisis, and dealing with isolation and loneliness.
I intend to carry my experience in intersectionality and sustainability into the VP Activities role, however, more importantly, I intend to conduct research and actively listen to the EC student population to ensure that the events and activities I organise represent the needs and wants of the EC community!
