This summer marks the end of the year for our 2022-2023 Full Time Officer team of David, Skye and Luna. They have written below their thoughts and feelings on the past year in office at EC Students' Association:
David Elder, 2022/23 President
"It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as President of EC Students Association. The work that the team does throughout the year at Edinburgh College is phenomenal, from running Freshers events to supporting students individually in their personal and academic needs. The launch of the Breakfast Club is the biggest achievement of the year and something I am really proud of. I hope the service continues to support so many students for years to come.
I wish the new team all the very best for the new academic year. I will really miss being part of such an amazing institution of what Edinburgh College delivers."
Skye Marriner, 2022/23 VP Welfare
"My past year as vice president welfare has been harder than expected.With helping students adjust to life after a pandemic and the constant questions that come with education it's safe to say I was worried I was not doing enough.After doing many events and stalls and being on the front line, having open conversations, raising your concerns on the board of management and doing my best to make students feel validated I was very honoured to be re-elected as president for my second term.
I am so grateful for everything I have learned and am going to continue to learn.
I couldn't be more excited to pass my role on to Luna and I cannot wait for the best year to come."
Luna Morrison, 2022/23 VP Activities
"The Vice President Activities role has been an especially interesting one this year, with a month before my start being told that all campuses were going to open their doors again after covid, it was quite a shock to the system! From freshers to pride, hosting events for you all has been the most challenging but enjoyable experience of my term as Vice President Activities. Figuring out new ways to keep events fresh was not easy, but I think it's safe to say along with the rest of the officers and staff, we've had some amazing outcomes over the past year!
Looking forward, I absolutely can't wait to do another term as the Vice President Welfare, hopefully tackling some really important issues throughout the year with an amazing team!"
We are looking forward to welcoming the new team for 2023/2024 to the office (with a couple of familiar faces).
