Our Go Green Hubs have been open on campuses for 6 weeks and we have already saved over one metric tonne of food and textiles from going to waste and helped create a circular economy across our campuses.
Since November, our community fridges have saved 750kg of food from going to waste! All 4 of our community fridges are stocked once a week with a range of food from retailers that is on, or near, its 'best by' or 'use by' date and would otherwise have gone to waste. Any food in the fridge is available to take away for free.
This semester our community have donated 381kg of items to our swap shops to be reused and recycled! This includes women's, men's and children's clothes, accessories and books that have found a second home. Our Swap Shops wouldn't exist without donations from students and staff across the College. So, if you're sorting through your wardrobe over the holidays and find anything you no longer want or need, please drop them off in the donations box at any of the Go Green Hubs when they reopen in the new year.
Our Go Green Hubs will be closed from 17th December 2021 to 17th January 2022 for the holidays. The next community fridge restocks will be on the following dates:
Granton - Wednesday 19th January
Sighthill - Monday 24th January
Midlothian - Tuesday 25th January
Milton Road - Friday 28th January
Thank you supporting our Go Green Project this semester! We look forward to seeing you in the new year to help save more waste and make our College a greener place!
