Recommend a student!

Staff members, we're looking for you to recommend students that you believe have the ability to become ECSA-llent student officers. These are paid full-time positions, and the successful candidates will be allowed to take a sabbatical break from their course whilst in position. All you have to do is fill in the autocomplete form at the bottom of this page, recommending the student and the position you think they'd be good for. We'll then make contact with the student and see if they'd like to stand for election. Polls open on Mon 6th March and close on Thurs 9th.
Positions available to recommend students for:
President
‘The President represents the voice of students at the highest levels of Edinburgh College, campaigning to make change and improve the student experience with a specific focus on improving Education as well as being accountable to the students on campus’.
- Sit on the College Board of management and leadership committees and works with the college to ensure that students are at the centre of decisions.
- Chair the ECSA trustee board to ensure the Association is student-led and focussed on our strategic objectives
- Represent the association and students when attending external events
- Support the student officer team and work towards organisational goals to benefit students
- Work to ensure the best learning experience for all students
- Lead on the class rep system to allow students to shape their learning
- Work with students to address their issues and work towards solutions
- Lead on creating a quality enhancement culture within the college
- Support & develop students to empower them to be engaged with ECSA
- Updating the board of management and team through verbal and written reports
- Setting the political direction of ECSA and working on national campaigns
Vice President (Sports & Activities)
‘VP Sports and Activities is responsible for driving ECSA Active ensuring the promotion and continued support for student led sports club sand societies and more general physical activity. From competitive sports to one off events.’
- Represents students on various College & External Committees, with Chairing responsibilities for relevant internal meetings
- Work with sector organisations such as Scottish Student Sport promoting ECSA Active externally and represent ECSA on the SSS Elected Students Forum
- Responsible for organising Fresher’s week & engaging student led events
- Work on Healthy Body Healthy Mind to create a positive culture centred around healthy living on campus
- Work with the Executive officers across all 4 campuses on issues specific to related to sports & activities
- Support & develop students to empower them to be engaged with ECSA
- Consult with students on current issues facing them and develop solutions to the benefit of students
- Develop ECSA Active brand and services to be as of inclusive of as many students as possible
- Work to improve participation by students across the college in sports, clubs and activities
Vice President (Welfare)
‘VP Welfare works to improve on key areas of services and support that impact students such as housing, child care & mental health. These issues can affect students on and off campus’
- Provide training support and information on various welfare issues to students
- Work with the Executive officers across all 4 campuses on welfare issues
- Work with the college on employability
- Support & develop students to empower them to be engaged with ECSA
- Grow links with external organisations and campaigns linked directly to welfare including mental health, and organisations that work on issues that affect students
- Work on developing a more welcoming and inclusive campus
- Consult with students on current welfare issues facing them and develop solutions to the benefit of students
- Updating the board of management and team through verbal and written reports
