College lecturers across Scotland are currently in a dispute with management regarding pay & conditions and the union representing them, EIS (Education Institute of Scotland) voted to take strike action because of this. 4 of these days have already taken place, with a further 8 planned over the coming weeks.
After a grueling session where our student panel sorted through over 700 nominations, we're very pleased to announce the shortlist for the second annual ECSA-llence Awards! A huge congratulations to those who made it onto the shortlists, and to each and every one of you who received a nomination from students. These will likely cause disruption to your education, so please read carefully through the information issued by the college, below. The votes have been cast, counted, and we're very pleased to be announce the results of the full-time student officer elections for 2017/18. There was a massive 1,052 voters across the all the positions, voting from campus polling stations, college PCs and mobile devices.
Today the college issued another update for students on the strike action being taken by EIS members at the college - lecturers, instructors and LDTs.

The recognised trade Union for college teaching staff, EIS (Educational Institute of Scotland), have voted to take strike action, starting with a 1 day strike on Thursday the 2nd of March 2017.
This is a local strike, specific to Edinburgh College, and, if the issue is not resolved, they plan to have more strike days in the coming weeks.

Edinburgh College's first ever Poetry Competition for students and staff has now drawn to a close after inspiring entries from across all campuses and the winners have been selected by our panel of poetry experts from the Scottish Poetry Library.
The competition asked students and staff to write about "Life at Edinburgh College, Through your Eyes" and the project is particularly interested in what impacts on peoples' experience or changes their emotions throughout the academic year.
